BBC Storyville - 'Speechless'
I thought I’d briefly post about the BBC’s Storyville two-parter titled ‘Speechless’, if only to link to it. Note that each part is 90 minutes long, so three hours in total. That’s long and is the reason I’m not going to try and pick it all apart.
It is about the culture wars, particularly how they started in university campuses. It covers Racism, Trans and Palestine in greater depth, and while its main focus is about campuses in the United States, it also touches on how this has manifested in the UK (especially on Trans and the case of Kathleen Stock).
I may have one or two criticisms of it but, overall, I think it informs.
Because it strays into super-charged culture war topics, I’ve no doubt some people will judge that it tilts the other way from their own beliefs/stance. That is a standard hazard when covering these topics, I’m afraid.
